Hiking in the Charlottesville Area
If you are looking for some great hiking trails this area has quite a few within a short drive.
The Shenandoah National Park is 30 minutes away and has a lot of trails leading off the Skyline Drive. Be sure to stop at the Visitors’ Center to pick up maps and find out which trail fits your level. We also have several books here at the inn for you to peruse before setting off which detail the hikes.
On the southern side of the Skyline Drive is the Blue Ridge Parkway. It too has plenty of hikes – one of our guests’ favorites is Humpback Rocks. The Visitors’ Center is very helpful for finding the right trail for you.
If waterfall hikes are what you seek there are several within the Shenandoah National Park and off of the Blue Ridge Parkway is Crabtree Falls. These are the tallest falls east of the Mississippi River.
If you want to hike close to the inn there are some easy trails at Ivy Nature Center or Mint Spring Park.
Whichever hike you do when you are through be sure to stop off at one of local wineries or breweries for a relaxing beverage before heading back to the inn.
