This recipe has been handed down through our family for over a century. You can make it in one large cake pan or many smaller Bundt pans. You just need to monitor the baking time depending on the size of pan you use.
- 4 large eggs
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 cup vegetable or other neutral oil
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 cups flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 4 teaspoons baking powder
- 3 large apples, sliced
- 1 cup walnuts, coarsely chopped
Preheat oven to 350F. Grease and flour a large Bundt pan.
Combine eggs, granulated sugar oil and vanilla in a large bowl. Mix well.
Combine flour, salt, cinnamon and baking powder in a medium bowl. Mix well.
Add the flour mixture to the egg mixture and stir.
Add the apples and walnuts to the cake batter. Stir well.
Pour cake batter into the prepared pan. Bake for 50-60 minutes until a cake tester comes out clean. Let cool in pan for 5 minutes. Tip pan onto a plate and carefully remove the pan from the cake. Let cool.
