3 Things to Do in May in the Charlottesville Area

May is a gorgeous month here in the Charlottesville area.  The weather is warm without being too hot.  It’s a great time to spend a few days away from the hustle and bustle of city-life.  So this month we will highlighting some ideas in the town of Crozet just a few miles from our inn.  My favorite things to do in May are:

  1. Crozet Arts & Craft Festival: Saturday & Sunday, May 11 & 12.  Each year this Black Letters on white background for Crozet Arts & Crafts Festivalfestival gets bigger and better.  There are many different types of artisans (over 120!) – photography, basketry, potters, painters, sculptors, jewelry makers, etc.  We usually end up buying something for the inn and something for ourselves.  And if you are hungry or thirsty there are plenty of food vendors as well and live music to listen to while sampling their menus. The banner photo above is of a card we purchased at the festival a couple of years ago.
  2. Crozet Spirits Loop – Saturdays.  Hop on the trolley and visit the many wineries and breweries in Crozet.  Some of the best in the Charlottesville are on the trolley’s circuit – Starr Hill Brewery, Pro Re Nata Brewery, King Family Vineyards, Septenary Vineyards plus tasting rooms for Bold Rock, Prince Michel and Lovingston Winery.  Plus there’s a stop at Greenwood Grocery – call ahead to order your sandwich.
  3. Paint Night at Starr Hill Brewery: Thursday May 16, 7:00-8:30. What better way tofour amber brown beer bottles with red and green labels paint than by enjoying some good beer while being creative with a paint brush.  Of course there will be an artist there to guide you, no experience necessary.

Hope to see you in May!
