3 Great Wineries Close to the Inn

Looking to try a couple of great wineries when you stay with us but don’t want to travel far? Today we’ll take you on a “tour” of three wineries not far from the Inn. Of course, with the vast amount of wineries in C’Ville and the surrounding areas, these aren’t the only options. However, they are some less mainstream options- somewhat smaller wineries that are hidden gems!

We’ll start with Valley Roads Vineyards in Afton, VA, the farthest out from the Inn, but still only about 20 to 25 minutes away. This new-ish winery opened in 2015 and is across the street from the popular Blue Mountain Brewery (a great place to grab a bite to eat before or after your wine). With breathtaking mountain views, Valley Road is picturesque. The tasting room, named

SIP, has a red barn look with a rustic, casual but clean and beautiful interior. The feel is casual and approachable, and they are open for tastings from 10:30-5:30 most days and closed on Tuesdays.

Try the Destana if you like white blends- it’s one of their well loved wines with a mix of Viognier, Petit Manseng and a touch of Chardonnay.

Next, we’ll head to White Hall Vineyards, making a turn back towards the Inn to the town of Crozet. This Vineyard has been around for over 20 years and it is only about 15 minutes away from the Inn. We suggest it for it’s welcoming atmosphere and good wine! Their tasting room has a more classic feel and is open Wednesday through Sunday from 11-5. The outdoor area has a beautiful view of the vineyard and mountains. The Petit Verdot is a great red to try here!

Our last stop will be Knight’s Gambit Vineyards, back towards the Inn and just over 10 minutes away. The tasting room is casual and comfy and includes a deck with great mountain views (do you see a theme here?). It is only open Friday through Sunday, but definitely worth a visit. You can pet the horses they give a home to and play with the rescued and loved pups they have on site! If you’re an animal lover and a wine lover, this is a must visit. If you like Pinot Grigio, theirs is great with just a hint of sweetness!

All three of the wineries we’ve taken you to on this tour have a casual, friendly feel. This is something we love about them, as not all wineries have these qualities. They also have outstanding views, as most wineries in the area do. They may not be the mainstream, most popular wineries to visit in the area, but these smaller wineries are close to the Inn and provide a relaxing atmosphere with great wine- what more do you need?
