The beginning of this year has brought a variety of new restaurants to the Charlottesville area. We’re not surprised, as there are always great new spots to try popping up around the city and the surrounding areas. Since there have been more than usual opening their doors this year, we thought we’d feature a few we think our guests will love to try!
Maru Korean Restaurant and Bar– This restaurant is a new one on the Downtown Mall, featuring traditional Korean food with a modern spin. The world Maru means gathering place, and the design of the interior feels warm with exposed brick walls and plenty of comfortable yet modern looking booth seating. There are even ice buckets built into the tables to keep your drinks (Korean style cocktails are offered) cold so you can stay for awhile and enjoy your time while you eat and drink with friends. People are really loving this new spot.
Tilman’s Cheese and Wine– The idea of Tilman’s is to celebrate wine, cheese, and snacks. How can you not love that? This new restaurant is also on the downtown mall and is more like a wine and cheese bar than a restaurant. The food menu is made up of high quality cheese boards, sandwiches, and great snacks to pair with wine. The bar focuses on wine, but there is also beer and cider available by bottle or draft. It is an inviting place with a great, modern, clean feel. And really, how can you resist a place focused on cheese and wine?
Silk Thai Restaurant– With authentic Thai food being it’s specialty, this restaurant is located in a house on Fontaine Avenue near the university. It has a wonderful, cozy feel as you enter the doors that will make you want to stay. The menu features several Thai dishes, and a favorite drink of many is the Thai Iced Tea. It is definitely worth a try if you love traditional Thai food!
These are just a few of the new restaurants around town, and we think they offer a great variety depending on what you are craving! Have you tried any of these restaurants yet? What did you think? We’d love to hear from you!
