With only two weeks left ’til the holidays are here, Charlottesville has an abundance of events to help celebrate. There really is something for everyone, so we hope you’ll find an event to enjoy on this list!
For lovers of beer, wine, and spirits:
Winter Solstice Cocktail Party– December 21. Taste new winter cocktails at a casual event at Vitae Spirits. If you bring a toy to donate to Toys for Tots, there will be free snacks and a special discounted cocktail for you! This is a great way to wind down before the holiday rush in the days that follow, especially if you are a fan of handcrafted, locally distilled spirits and cocktails!
Holiday Weekend at Three Notch’d Brewery– December 16 & 17. On the 16th, attend a family friendly event including family pictures with Santa, a holiday movie playing on the big screen, holiday inspired dishes, and more. The 17th will be a holiday market with local crafters and artisans selling unique, hand crafted items. Of course, all accompanied by Three Notch’d craft beer!
For lovers of sweets:
S’more Holiday Fun– December 16th & 17th. Chiles Peach Orchard in Crozet will start the morning with a pancake breakfast at 10am (second breakfast for anyone staying at the Inn with us!) You can then enjoy some mulled wine from Prince Michel Wine Shop or a hard cider from Bold Rock’s tasting room on site. We think this part is best of all: Enjoy time outside by the fire making smores! What a perfect holiday morning and/or afternoon.
Cookie Decorating Class– December 15th. At Snowing in Space Coffee, you’ll learn new, beautiful cookie decorating skills. You’ll make Ninja Gingerbread People, Snowglobe Cookies and more. If you love making and eating Christmas cookies, this is the event for you!
For theater lovers:
The Nutcracker– December 16th, 17th, 21st & 22nd. It is a favorite holiday tradition of many in Charlottesville to attend Charlottesville Ballet’s version of “The Nutcracker” performed at Piedmont Virginia Community College. It is always a wonderful show, and if you enjoy ballet, you’ll be sure to have a great time!
For the makers:
Wreath Making Workshop and Winter Farm Market– December 16th. At Bellair Farm’s Greenhouse, you can drop in to make your own wreath or purchase a handmade one. This could be a great addition to your holiday decor or a gift to a friend, family member, or neighbor! The greenery you will use is sustainably collected from the farm!
For the history lover:
After Hours at Highland– December 29th & 30th. Experience an after hours holiday tour of the home of James Monroe. This tour will be offered at twilight to small groups and accompanied by open hearth cooking which will be enjoyed by candlelight. The cooks will lead those participating in baking several Monroe era desserts. This is the perfect holiday-themed event for a history lover!
So there you have it; something for everyone! Which event would you enjoy most? We’re excited about so many of them, we can hardly pick a favorite! Whichever type of holiday event you enjoy most, we hope you truly have a wonderful holiday season!
