Where’s our Favorite Place to get a Burger in Charlottesville?

Citizen_Burger_Bar 1

Citizen Burger Bar, of course!  Why go anywhere else when you can get get great “burgers”, salads, and beverages all served by friendly wait staff and bartenders?  We try to eat there once a month but would love to go more often.

Their “burgers” include beef, chicken and vegan.  The beef comes from Timbercreek Organic Farm (across the street from us here at Foxfield Inn) and is the best grass-fed, free range Angus beef in Virginia!  Of course, I might be a bit biased since they are our neighbors but the beef is REALLY good.  Dan’s favorite beef burger is the Citizen Burger with the multi-grain bun and the fried pickle on top.  My favorite beef burger is the Southern – love pimento cheese, skip the bun and have it served on lettuce!  Of course any of the other beef burgers are just as good – including the Mini which is just the right size for me.

I recently tried the Vegan burger which is made with quinoa, millet and beets.  It is a great option for those who follow a plant based diet, which I am trying to do more often.  Again, I would skip the bun even though they do offer a vegan bun and have it served on lettuce instead.  If you are a vegetarian you can add cheese, of which there are 7 different kinds of cheese.

We have not tried their Chicken Burger, Grilled Cheese or Lobster Club Sandwich yet.  But there are more months ahead for us to explore those options.  I will say the salads look fresh and interesting as they have gone by us to another table – just haven’t gotten around to them yet.

So next time you are in Charlottesville don’t hesitate to stop at Citizen Burger Bar for a great lunch or dinner burger.

Yes, the back of his shirt does say “Grass – everybody’s doing it”.  It’s a cute cow that’s eating grass.
