Our guests here at Foxfield Inn frequently ask us this question. The first place to look for ideas is here. We’ve scouted out plenty of things for you to do and experience. Below are just a couple of ideas that might interest you.
There are wineries to visit. Our favorites nearby are King Family Vineyards, Pollak Vineyards and Stinson Vineyards. At this time of year they are all harvesting and processing grapes so if you visit in October you get to see them in action.
Don’t care for wine? How about visiting one of the many breweries or cideries in the area. Albemarle Cider Works is just one of several here that make delicious “hard” ciders. At this time of year they are out picking apples and then pressing them. They also have great orchards of vintage apples to enjoy.
For a great horseback riding adventure Ashton Beebe of Indian Summer Guides will take you for a ride through local wineries or local nature areas. This time of year with the fall foliage coming to peak (mid-late October) the rides are not only enjoyable but beautiful as well. Previous guests have had nothing but positive comments to say about their time spent with Ashton and his team.
