Monticello Wine Festival, Charlottesville

Looking for a great evening out at Monticello?  On Saturday, May 12th, Monticello is having it’s annual Wine Festival.  This year Thomas Jefferson (portrayed by Bill Barker) will be there to talk with the festival goers.  He will talk about the grape varietals and the history of wine during the start of America.  Gabriele Rausse, Monticello’s assistant director of gardens and grounds will be with Jefferson to discuss wines.  Rausse is a well-known wine-maker in the area.

If you are staying with us at our Charlottesville bed and breakfast let us make the arrangements for your attendance at the festival for you.

While you are there you can stroll the restored vineyards, tour the wine cellar, enjoy live music and taste the fruits of the earth from more than a dozen wineries of the Monticello Wine Trail.  Wineries participating this year are:

  • Barboursville Vineyards
  • Cardinal Point Vineyard and Winery
  • First Colony Winery
  • Flying Fox Vineyards
  • Gabriele Rausse Winery
