What a glorious day last Sunday when the Foxfield Races were run. Okay, so the weather was a bit drizzly but it didn’t stop the horse, dogs, or entertainers from performing. And it didn’t stop any of the spectators from enjoying themselves.
One of my favorite events is the Jack Russell races which are run at the start of the day. Seeing these little dogs so determinedly chasing after the fox tail and going over jumps is the best medicine for a gray day. It had the crowd laughing and cheering on our favorites.
The entertainment continued with the local fife and drum band playing lively tunes for all of us to enjoy. Besides the entertainment there was an antique sale tent, a farmer’s market and art events for the children.
And then there were the horse races. There were 5 races for us to enjoy. Some local betting (without exchange of money) was going on by some of the tailgaters next to us – all in good fun. Of course the ones I rooted for came in last at each race. Next year their owners probably hope I pick some other horse to win.
It was sad when it was over and we headed for home. Next year – come join us and enjoy the festivities. It’s the last Sunday in September. See you there!
